K9 Cruiser

K9 Cruiser is the Town of Princeton’s Police comfort dog—also known as a community service dog or therapy dog. Cruiser is trained to support people emotionally, rather than perform law enforcement tasks like scent detection or apprehension.

Unlike regular service animals, comfort dogs do not assist with disabilities or perform physical tasks—they provide emotional support.

Cruiser's journey began on September 16, 2023, when he was just 8 weeks old. He was carefully chosen for our Department after undergoing temperament testing. Thanks to the incredible knowledge and guidance of Darlynn Oberg of @Belhaven Labradors in Hardwick, we knew immediately he was the perfect fit for our community.

His education has included Puppy kindergarten, obedience and tricks classes, Canine Good Citizen certification, and finally therapy dog training. Hundreds of hours of work have gone into his training. Weekly classes, daily practice, and unwavering dedication by his handler, Detective Holly Doyle, have brought Cruiser to where he is today.
