The ZBA meets on an as-needed basis as a judiciary body only. Its charge, in brief, is per Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40A Section 14:
- To hear and decide appeals to a decision of the zoning enforcement officer (building inspector)
- To hear and decide applications for special permits upon which the board is empowered under Princeton Zoning By-laws
- To hear and decide petitions for variances to the local zoning by-law
Hearing Guidelines
- The Board shall hold a hearing on any appeal, application or petition within sixty-five days from the receipt of notice by an applicant
- The Board’s staff shall cause notice of such hearing to be published and sent to parties in interest as provided in section eleven
- The Chair, or in their absence the acting Chair, may administer oaths, summon witnesses, and call for the production of papers
