The Selectboard is composed of three members who are elected for staggered three-year terms. The Selectboard appoints a Town Administrator who is responsible for the daily management of the Town.
Primary Responsibilities
- Issuing the warrants for Town Meetings and making recommendations on the warrant articles
- Initiating legislative policy by inserting articles in Town Meeting Warrants and then implementing the votes subsequently adopted
- Adopting town policies
- Reviewing and setting fiscal guidelines for the annual operating budget and capital improvements program and making recommendations to Town Meeting on the same
- Appointing staff as well as most board and committee members
- Holding public hearings on important town issues and periodic conferences with agencies under their jurisdiction and with community groups
- Overseeing traffic issues and traffic rules and regulations
- Issuing and renewing licenses including common victual, liquor, and entertainment
