Council on Aging FAQs

The Council on Aging maintains a revolving supply of of donated equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, shower chairs, canes, and crutches.

If you need some equipment, temporarily or permanently, call us at 978-454-5977 and we’ll let you know if we have what you need. If we don’t, we have a few other resources you can try. When and if you no longer need the equipment you borrow, we appreciate your bringing it back so we can make it available to others.

Call us if you’d like to make an equipment donation. We’ll quickly determine if it’s something we can accept given our current inventory and, if needed, we will arrange a mutually convenient time for you to drop it off.

Every situation is unique. Predominantly seniors call us because they require some assistance or care following surgery or a medical procedure, but others need longer-term care. Call the Council on Aging at 978-464-5977 and staff will try to give you appropriate resources to contact in our area. Please note, the COA does not provide direct services though we do maintain a resource list.

If you have questions about an upcoming program or activity, call the COA at 978-464-5799. We’re always happy to share what we know about a program’s content, the instructor or lecturer, and if any special knowledge or skills are required (almost never!).

  • For most activities published in the COA newsletter, you can call 978-464-5977 and we will sign you up
  • If you call after hours or on the weekend, please leave a message that includes your first and last name, phone number, and email address
  • If you are signing up a spouse or friend, please leave their information too. For any of our exercise classes, you sign-in at the class itself
