Advisory Committee Liaisons
Role and Responsibilities
Appointment and Purpose
- The advisory committee appoints liaisons to most departments and town committees.
- The purpose of these liaisons is to facilitate communication and information exchange on fiscal matters.
- They also work to ensure that financial processes and procedures are being followed in accordance with town policy and state law.
Communication and Information Gathering
- Liaisons are responsible for communicating updates related to fiscal matters from the advisory committee to the respective departments and town committees.
- They also gather and clarify information from these entities to make informed recommendations regarding fiscal issues.
Neutrality and Non-Voting Status
- Liaisons operate in a neutral manner, meaning they do not take sides or advocate for any particular department, committee, or issue.
- Importantly, liaisons are not voting members of any department or committee, emphasizing their impartial role.
Communication with Voters and Taxpayers
- Liaisons aim to ensure effective communication, through the Advisory Committee, of relevant financial information between the departments/committees and the town's voters and taxpayers.
- The liaisons role emphasizes transparency around the dissemination of financial updates to the broader community.
